About Me

Meet the Baker!

I'm Becky and I'm a single Mom of two fabulous and crazy boys! I work several jobs, including catering while attending college (again!) and studying ASL!  I still haven't figured out what I want to be when I grow up (don't rush me, there's still time) but I know it has something to do with baking, cooking, or interpreting ASL!

In my spare time (hee hee) I pretty much live in my little kitchen.  I am always baking delicious goodies for my boys, my friends and family, and my clients. While I am known as a baker I also love to cook, pretty much anything, as long is there is a lot of garlic in it and it goes well with red wine!

I was raised by my Mom, a fabulous cook and baker, who made everything from scratch.  She was an adventurous cook and so I not only ate really well but I learned at a young age to try new things.  I loved sitting on the kitchen counter when I was really young and watching her work, then helping her as I got older, learning how she turned all of those ingredients into something fabulous to eat.  I grew up seeing food and cooking as something fun, not a chore.  I am trying to teach my boys how much fun it can be too!

I hope you enjoy my blog, my recipes, and my silly stories.  I look forward to sharing my love of food with you and maybe even teaching you something new!

Becky

  1. Hi Becky!
I am getting ready for a Begining Baking Class and decided to change it up - I got my hands on the book What's New Cupcake, and while I also am not a cake fan, love the decorating ideas in this book - I have wowed friends with cupcakes and some are pretty darn easy. So decided the kids would make scratch cupcakes and then decorate, so I am using some of your recipes! I am going to do a test run of the chocolate toffee today. Thanks for having such a great blog that I knew I could do the cupcakes first time with the kids and not worry that the recipe would come out weird!

  2. I missed this the numerous times I have been here visiting. My daughter is also raising boys by herself and hats off to you lady. That's a full time job as it is.
Oh yes, you are FFFFF this week but you are always one of Evelyn's Faves:) I couldn't answer your comments via email because it shows you are a noreply commentator. Not sure if you know that or not. I was until a friend told me and I googled it and changed it, now I get replies from my bloggies when I leave a comment on their blog:)
Will be checking back all week:) And of course I will be sharing the Fave's all week on Facebook etc:)
    Have a super terrific weekend!

  4. HI Becky I am in love with your Pink Cake with the cheetah print on the inside and the little shoes on top. I asked my baker if this was something she could do and she was not sure how to do it. Is there any way I could get some instructions to share with her so we can have this amazing cake for my sister Baby shower.
    Thanks J.Anderson
